How It Works

BackShave V2 shaves your whole back in under a minute, in the shower, without a mirror. Drop the cord over a shoulder, grab the ball grips, and pull. The device lands blades-down, follows the curve of your back, and holds the blades at the perfect angle on every stroke. You can do it with your eyes closed.

Why it works

Every other back razor asks you to twist, look over your shoulder, and guess at the angle. The strip between your shoulder blades still gets missed.

V2 fixes that with a patent-pending self-leveling design. The blade carrier (we call it the Core) pivots underneath the chassis to follow the contours of your back, and the cartridges level themselves against your skin. The chassis rides on a smooth, contoured underside and curved rails, so contact pressure stays even. The blades find the ideal angle on their own and hold it for the whole stroke. You pull; the device aims.

Using it

  1. Load the gel. Fill the two reservoirs with any shave gel. Soap or shampoo works too. The reservoirs lubricate every stroke and virtually eliminate razor burn.
  2. Get it on your back. In the shower, with your back wet, toss the cord over one shoulder and grab both ball grips. The ring on top lands the chassis face-down, right way up, every time. It also keeps the device from rotating while you pull.
  3. Pull. Think of drying your back with a towel: diagonal strokes, then side to side, then up and down. V2 shaves in both directions, so every pull counts. Light pressure is all it takes. The blades clear themselves of hair on each reverse stroke.
  4. Shoulders and triceps. Hold the ring like a handle and run the device over your shoulders, the back of your arms, and anywhere else you can reach by hand.
  5. Rinse. Hold the Core under the shower head, shake it out, hang it up.

Every back is different. The first time or two, spend a few minutes trying different stroke patterns, then check in a mirror afterward to see what you missed. Once you have your pattern, a full back takes about a minute.

Changing the Core

The Core is a snap-in carrier that holds two 6-blade cartridges. You will feel it start to drag when it is time for a fresh one.

  1. Press the tab marked PRESS and pop the used Core out of the chassis.
  2. Snap two fresh cartridges onto a new Core (or grab one you have already loaded).
  3. Push the Core into the chassis until it clicks.

Your BackShave V2 ships with two Cores and one 4-pack of cartridges: one Core installed, one spare, and enough blades for both. When you have used them up, the V2 Refill Kit gives you four Cores and eight cartridges.

A note for OG owners
